Welcome to Synergy Animal Wellness, a complementary veterinary practice providing chiropractic, acupuncture, cold laser and PEMF for large and small animals. The philosophy of this practice is to approach each animal as an individual with a unique history. Treatments are tailored to the individual’s body, not just the diagnosis.
Most animals have already been diagnosed or at least evaluated by their regular veterinarian before coming here. For those that have not, the animal is initially addressed from a traditional medical perspective to determine if the current condition is outside the scope of either chiropractic or acupuncture. Any animal with a condition deemed outside the scope of this practice will be referred back to their regular veterinarian for primary care. The animal is then evaluated from an alternative perspective. Chiropractic and acupuncture exams allow the body to be evaluated in a different manner, often yielding different information than traditional physical exams. When a specific diagnosis is undetermined, complementary therapies can help address those “grey areas” traditional medicine cannot address.
Synergy Animal Wellness came about because of those “grey areas.” The practice was founded by Dr. Jennifer Davis after several years in general practice. Both large and small animal patients seemed to settle into predictable patterns of diagnosis, medication, new/progressive symptoms and more medications. Most of these animals were not necessarily sick but not exactly healthy either. They fell into cycles of symptom management without healing. In the process of exploring new options for chronic patient problems, Dr. Davis found a kinship with the complementary philosophies that offer a different approach to addressing dis-ease symptoms. Synergy Animal Wellness exists to help fill an expanding therapeutic niche to service patients that are not necessarily sick but not yet exactly healthy.
From the complementary medicine perspective, healing is more than suppressing a symptom. Symptoms are indications of a deeper, chronic imbalance in the body. The imbalance can be physical, chemical or emotional. Healing dis-ease is a process that takes longer than just the resolution of clinical signs. Symptoms are the last things to show up in the disease process, they are just the tip of the iceberg. Complementary and traditional therapies each have their strengths and weaknesses and neither is ever a guaranteed cure. The key is to use the therapies synergistically for the highest benefit to the animal.
Thank you for being here and taking the opportunity to expand your animal’s therapeutic options. If you are new to either chiropractic or acupuncture, please visit the Chiropractic and/or Acupuncture pages for more information as to how these therapies work and how they may benefit your animal. If you do not find the information you are looking for, please contact Dr. Davis with your questions.
